Insurify, the auto insurance comparison site, has compiled a list of the 10 newer model vehicles that are involved in the most at-fault crashes in Ohio and the rest of the U.S. The results are based on an analysis of more than 1.6 million insurance quotes.

Heading the list was the Subaru Crosstrek, which is somewhat ironic because the 2019 Crosstrek received the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. Though accidents are frequent, their severity tends to be minor with both drivers and passengers managing to walk away from the average crash. The Crosstrek’s affordability and excellent fuel economy are also attracting many drivers.

In all, accidents affected 25.81% of all Crosstreks on the road. They affected 25.7% of Honda HR-Vs, putting this vehicle in second place. The list continues with the Hyundai Elantra GT, Infiniti Q50, and Subaru WRX. This second vehicle from Subaru is notoriously linked with the highest proportion of speeding offenses. After this was the Mazda3, Acura ILX, Lexus CT, Chevrolet Trax, and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.

The Chevrolet Trax is the only American vehicle on the list, the remainder being imports with seven from Japan and two from Korea. Overall, car crashes had impacted 13.64% of all these vehicle models.

In every motor vehicle accident, there is the question of who was at fault and to what degree. Those who are less to blame than the other driver may be able to file a claim against that driver’s insurance company. In the end, they may be able to negotiate a settlement covering things like medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other losses. It might take a lawyer to handle negotiations, so victims may want to schedule a case assessment. Lawyers may take on litigation, too.
