Goshen, OH (February 23, 2024) –Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called to the scene of an injury accident on Thursday morning, February 22nd. The accident happened just before 1:00 a.m. on State Route 165 at the intersection with U.S. Route 632.

According to an initial report, Goshen police officer Zachary Hodgson was on his way to investigate another crash. Hodgson had his lights and siren activated when he came to the intersection. A Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Route 632 when the driver entered the intersection with a green light and struck Hodgson’s cruiser. The police car went off the road and overturned several times before it came to rest. Officer Hodgson was taken to Elizabeth Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The driver of the Altima, 61-year-old Sue Leclerc, of Salem, was also taken to Elizabeth Hospital in stable condition.

The intersection was closed for several hours as an investigation was conducted and later reopened. There is no word on whether any charges will be filed in connection with the accident. An investigation remains ongoing.
