Columbus, OH (February 21, 2024) – Police in Columbus were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday night, February 20th. The crash took place in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.

According to a report from the scene, a Columbus police vehicle was traveling on I-70 when the car came upon a disabled vehicle that had lost its wheel assembly. The police car was unable to avoid a crash with the wheel that rolled into a travel lane. Two officers in the police vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries due to the collision. The officers were taken to an area hospital where they received treatment. Their identity has not been released at this time. No one else was hurt as a result of the crash. The driver of the disabled vehicle left the scene but was later apprehended and taken into custody. The crash is still under investigation. There is no additional information available.
