Columbus, OH – Off-Duty Officer Killed in Motorcycle Crash on U.S. 23 and Cottswold Dr.

Columbus, OH (March 13, 2024) – An off-duty police officer in Columbus died in a motorcycle crash that happened on Wednesday morning, March 13th. The accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Cottswold Drive.

According to a report, 36-year-old Andrew Mott was riding a motorcycle on his way home from work when he was struck by an SUV. Mott suffered critical injuries at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Mott worked for the Columbus Police Department. There is no word on how the accident took place and the driver of the SUV has not been identified.  The road was partially closed in the aftermath of the accident. Drivers were told to avoid the scene and to find alternate routes of travel. An investigation remains ongoing at this time. It is unknown whether any charges are expected to be filed.
